SEO Expert - OneArmedSEO

How I got into SEO...whatever you want to call it they're sort of the same, except each of the terms listed signifies a different level of experience.

  • SEO Expert - You could also call this advanced SEO. This person can do just about everything that needs to be done to get the ranking desired, provided it's all WhiteHat.
  • SEO Guru - Next Level, doesn't need to be anal about anything, because they know more than the analyst and specialist combined.
  • SEO Analyst - Next level who can do the job, but knows more and wants to get it right! Thus the word ANALyst.
  • SEO Specialist - to me, has always meant beginner, not absolute beginner, but someone who can do the job and hope for the best.
  • WhiteHat - Goes by the search engine's guidelines, obeys the rules and gets long term results.
  • BlackHat - Does the opposite of WhiteHat! They look at the guidelines and say: "Guidelines? We don't need no stinking guidelines!"

Why One Armed SEO? I was in a motorcycle accident April 23, 1998 that left my right arm paralyzed. A friend of mine gave me his old computer, it was Windows 3.1, I had a modem too, he must've just upgraded to Windows '98! ;) This is when AOL was mailing out discs to everyone. The first time I got online, I was blown away by websites! I said to myself I have to learn how to make these. So, I did and started out as a web designer

Started SEO in 1999, before it even had a name Google was just hatched and Yahoo was king! Over 2 decades of SEO. I ate, and dreamt SEO, I'm a stickler when it comes to clean code. I've been called a coding Nazi before. But since our boy Google has grown up, he handles cluttered code much better, but cleaner is still better.

After looking for my site in Yahoo, I couldn't find it. So I wondered how I could get on the 1st page...so I started looking at what other sites were doing that showed at the top of the results pages, I started copying, reading and experimenting and started getting results. Another reason was a teacher in college had given an assignment...it was a scavenger hunt. the class was an Internet protocols class, I learned how to FTP in Disc operating System, DOS

We had to search the internet for all kids of different items ... I became fascinated with Search! That's when I really fell in love with it! This was even before SEO had a name, Google was a baby search engine operating from Larry Page and Sergey Brin's Stanford dorm rooms. They started getting to big for the bandwidth at from their dorm-rooms so they moved they rented a garage from Susan Wojcicki's so they could get more bandwidth. She's Sergey Brin's former sister in-law, he was married to her sister Anne. Susan became Employee #16, she was their marketing manager, helped with products like AdSense, then eventually in 2006, became CEO of YouTube!

Timeline of Google's Move

  • 1998: Larry Page and Sergey Brin rented Susan Wojcicki's garage in Menlo Park, California, shortly after founding the company.
  • Late 1998 / 1999: Google quickly outgrew the garage space and moved to larger offices in Palo Alto and then Mountain View.
  • 2003: The company settled into its permanent headquarters, known as the "Googleplex," in Mountain View.
  • August 19 2004: Google held its initial public offering (IPO) from its established corporate offices, years after leaving the garage behind.Their IPO was $85, and today it's approximately $350

Why do I put Google's timeline on here? Because Google is an important part of my business as too it is yours. Everyone who has a website wants to be in Google SERPS! I have been implementing WhiteHat SEO techniques for long term organic SEO results since I started. Nobody can guarantee getting a site to #1...unless they're pulling a scam and not telling you that they meant #1 in paid results. My goal is to get you on page #1!

I got a job at an agency around 2006, and in the first week I got employee of the week. This at the beginning of my 90 day trial. I was officially hired at that point and they gave me a $10,000 dollar raise. In my experience links didn't become important until about 2006. My clients were getting great results without them. While working at an agency, we were having a meeting with one of our clients. The client was my responsibility. It was for a school that had about 5 different courses you could take. One of them was massage therapy, the client said: "they use to go to one of the local hospitals and give them free massages."

My first thought was, "would they give you a link?" They did! As soon as Google found it, they jumped to the number 4 spot for Massage Therapy! Needless to say, they were very happy! 20 years later, links are very important now!

I will explain to you thoroughly the entire SEO Process. Please send any questions you have, by filling out the form on my SEO Contact page, or one of the little forms on the side. I'm always happy to answer any questions people have
